The added bonus is that the game is fully complete, containing the loading picture, music and sfx. Developer Matt Young, Sailor/Triad and Jazzcat have been busy at work and reconstructing things into its final state, whilst compressing and bug fixing. The download contains two versions, a trained version and the standard version. All instructions are included. Go check it out!... The Bubbler 04 / 11 / 09 THE WILD BUNCH (C64) NOW COMPLETE! Of what was almost a GTW and after just over a year of development, the C64 conversion of the excellent Amstrad/Spectrum Firebird game "The Wild Bunch" is now complete. The Wild Bunch was a superb classic Firebird release which never strangely had a C64 conversion back in the day. Jon Wells has risen to the challenge some 25 years on, bringing along a series of additional features/updates, including new improved graphics, sound, gameplay features (Including a vastly improved Gunfight scene with speech). The game is being sold in a limited edition form with authentically and professionally produced inlays and tape labels, replicating the Firebird original release of old, all for the budget price of £3.99 (Not including p&p). The official release date is due sometime later this month, which will be a date set in October (TBC). The game will now be shipped with the bonus of two versions of the cover printed on both sides. So you can choose which version you wish to display on your shelf. Previews of the cover can be seen on the project website. There is currently still a pre-order competition running for the game where 20 people can win a free professionally produced Wild Bunch audio CD. The competition will close by Midnight on Friday the 11th September, and the winners will be announced on the website by the 18th September. For development diaries + ordering details, please visit: http://www.gamesplaygames.co.uk/thewildbunch/ 05 / 09 / 09 'THE BUBBLER' - ON IT'S WAY!... In the recovery of the game there have been one or two surprises, but the biggest has to be the fact that the game was finished. The site has been described by Adrian as basic to start, but the work begins here and the site will grow from these beginnings. Already, they begin by releasing a GTW which has never been released until now. A fantastic start, and a sign of what to come. The Amiga, like the C64, has a large library of titles yet to be found, such as Putty Squad and even Solar Jetman. Now this project has launched, it is hopeful that many titles will now be researched and uncovered as digging begins. Check it out and if you can help by searching, showing your support and giving encouragement, this project will no doubt bear fruit! This is a conversion of the the classic Vic 20 game, Sub Hunt, and will feature various enhancements and a variety of gameplay styles throughout. This 1 level preview has you having to save 5 swimmers and getting to the surface before your oxygen runs out. Many tweaks needed, but the beginnings of hopefully a nice little game... Sub Hunter Preview HEADER REWORK... After a lot of huffing and puffing, i've moved all the pages over to .php based pages and have got rid of the frames . The Header is not included in each page, and now people with lower resolutions will be able to view pages without the navigation taking up all the room. It's early stages, and no doubt there will be a few bugs. Please bear with us, but everything is gradually working again. If you have any links to .htm pages within GTW, please update your links! 25 / 10 / 05 FULL 'STARSAT' GAME FOUND!... Thanks to Scott Julian, GTW is proud to present another lost game which has now been found. Starsat is an Australian RPG/Arcade Adventure game which was denied publishing by a popular Australian company for reasons still unknown. Compared to most games released back in the 80's, this is not a bad game at all and hopefully one you can at last enjoy... Starsat TWO BIG 'CORE' TITLES REVEALED... It has come to light about two big C64 titles which are confirmed as in existance by the developers who later went on to form Core Design and produce many classics. Terry Lloyd and Chris Shrigley shed light on two big titles, including "Task 2", a game which Bulldog took over as a release. And even more incredible... "Axel's Magic Hammer", reported to be actually completed and fully produced on our beloved C64. Check out the reviews below to read more.... Axel's Magic Hammer / Task 2 'ZONE OF DARKNESS' - CHAR DEMO RELEASED... Never seen before, GTW has been given permission to add the Character demo for Zone Of Darkness. The Flashback style main character which is fully controllable on a test backdrop. More to come soon, including all the level graphics which were created and hopefully something more playable. The story begins to unfold on this excellent looking GTW.... Zone Of Darkness 'OP THUNDERBOLT V1' - PARTIALLY SOLVED...... At last, the mystery behind the rather bizzare Operation Thunderbolt V1 is solved. Brian Flanagan tells all, and why Zzap 64 gave the game such a high rating when it was incomplete and never played. More light is shed on Trevor Brown, and extra details given on the actual first version's development... Operation Thunderbolt V1 'ZAMZARA V1' ADDED AND DISCUSSED... GTW adds another 6 Apex entries into the archive, this time with a set of titles which only got to a very early stage and were mentioned in the Mayhem diaries. Destruction Bros / Genesis / H20 / Katapult Kidz / Squish / Theo Saurus 'BREAKTHROUGH' - RARE SHOT ADDED... A rare screenshot of the reworked version of Breakthrough has been added, Jon Wells awesome sideways scrolling SEUCK game... Breakthrough 11 / 10 / 05 'GODFLESH' REMAINS FULLY RELEASED... GTW brings you the full exclusive remains of Godflesh - a IK/Mortal Kombat planned game, consisting of all the music, scans and graphics which were produced for the game. Although nothing is sadly playable due to how far it got, it is a small indication that a rather nice looking game was taking shape... Even if it was just the graphics... This therefore is another case closed... Godflesh NEW LOOK A-Z + SEARCH ADDED... As GTW has now hit way past the 600 odd mark in terms of entries, it was about time we organised the site in a better way. With a severe lack of time to implement a database solution, a temporary php solution has been developed to improve navigation, and with this a new search engine has been built to filter out specific games. It is by no means a perfect solution, but hopefully you'll agree it is much better this way now. If there are problems, of course, contact us... And as an added bonus, you can now pick a game at random using the Random link underneath the GOTM. Enjoy... and proper update coming soon! 1 / 10 / 05 'DEVIOUS DESIGNS' HAS BEEN SAVED!... One of the biggest GTW findings since Solar Jetman has been recovered at last for the Commodore 64, with Pete Baron recovering his unreleased/incomplete puzzler for Imageworks. Devious Designs is a fantastic puzzle game which features a book of moves which are very impressive to say the least. And with the two big developers of Myth and Salamander, Pete Baron and Bob Stevenson, behind the game... you can see the quality shine throughout. We have NOT put the game up just yet, as there is unfortunately a bug preventing the game to be played beyond the 4th level.... read more below.... At the moment the game is being fixed up, and we believe there to be at least 12 levels, and at most about 30 approximately. The Amiga version had about 50 levels, with 20 bitmap screens cycled with different puzzles. Pete Baron is currently digging out more remains of the game on PC disk to see if anymore can be salvaged and to help produce a much fuller release. The game is fully playable, and features a lot more moves which were later taken out of the Amiga version reluctantly. We believe there could be as many as 12 bitmap's done by Bob Stevenson in the game. We are hoping to find more of the title screen and possibly an ending from Pete's PC disks. There is a partial title screen in place. There is no music, but some sfx which may have been temporary. So although we just announce the game for now, we have put up a few screenshots of the first two levels.. and have added a special video download of the first level being played through (4mb approx). We'll keep you updated, but at last this long lost game has been found!.... Devious Designs AND A FULL GTW FOUND TOO!... (23/9/05) More GTW titles, as yet another game has been found. This time a full game from Australia which was rejected due to a disagreement with the company. The game seems to be a RPG style game with a hint of Spindizzy about it. This will be coming up shortly in the next update with any luck with the full story about the game and how it was found.... 23 / 9 / 05 + 15 / 9 / 05 'PIZZA DELIVERY' (MARTECH) - FOUND... One of the planned last games to come from Martech for the C64 has been found in its final state, as Dave Spicer finds his work disks and ports the game for GTW readers to check out... Not GTW related, but i'm happy to announce that 'End Of The Line' is back at long last, and after a long break from my friend Vinny Mainolfi. Back in about 2000/01, we took over the site after Vinny decided to call it a day. We also called it a day as time got short, and GTW was decided to be concentrated on. The idea to bring back the site has been bubbling for some time now, and finally Vinny has been convinced to come back. As well as concentrating on game endings and reviews, Vinny also adds some humour and fun features, such as Caption competitions, Room 101 and other interactive sections where you can join in. I've no doubt that Vinny will have come a long way since the old site, so that can only be a good thing. Check it out at http://www.c64endings.co.uk PLANS TO FIX SITE DESIGN... I'm considering reworking the site design slightly to make it more accessible to users. The main downside of the site is that its coded using Tables, and it could be a lot smaller in size using CSS and Div's etc. This will take too long to convert at present, but it will be done sometime in the future. Some simple adjustments will be made, including some mostly on the news pages to ensure that the first page of the site loads quickly. A downgrade of the main menu header will be done, with a simpler A-Z to cut down on image size. JON WELL'S "SLIDEZ" RELEASED... Carrying on from last week's release of the Ocean Music Editor source code, comes Paul Hughes FreeLoad and FreeSave source codes, which were used to produce the famous Ocean loaders we all know and love.
