1990 Ubi Soft

Platforms: Commodore Amiga and Atari ST

An unreleased puzzle game that was due out from Ubi Soft in 1990 for both the Commodore Amiga and Atari ST platforms, created by Michel Ancel and Nicolas Choukroun who produced The Teller and Pick’n Pile. The game was previewed in Generation 4 magazine, featuring some neat looking screens.

The goal of the game was to navigate different coloured bugs to different colour cages. Bugs should not collide, and they all have different speeds based on their colour. There are also a range of different obstacles to avoid, including monsters and maze parts to make navigation to their home much more difficult. Teleporters would move you to other parts of the level as well.

The screenshots seem to suggest that the player would have placed arrows on the maps to inform the bugs where to go. In a way, it reminds me a lot of Chu Chu Rocket on the Dreamcast.

Overall, the game was to have around 100 levels and according to Generation 4, it was looking pretty good and sounding good too. However, it disappeared without any further trace.

So what happened to it? With the development team being known, it is hoped we can get in touch with them to find out exactly, and maybe even see if something may still exist.

With thanks to Grzegorz Antosiewicz for flagging up the title and providing scans.
