1990 Ubi Soft
Platforms: Atari ST and Commodore Amiga
C.L.E.I.A. (or Complex Logic of the Autonomous Computer Entity … or to match the French acronym: Complexe Logique de l’Entite Informatique Autonom) is a cancelled game from Ubi Soft that was being developed back in 1990. Very little is known about the development, though the game bears resemblance to titles such as Explora and Chrono Quest.

According to a preview in Generation4 magazine, the game’s premise centred on escaping the bubble city of Cleia before a gigantic meteor strikes, threatening total destruction. The action takes place in the Solistis dimension, featuring 40 levels and 655 celestial bodies.
Two sectors are highlighted in the surviving materials:
Sector EB8-U24: Contains three systems – the Mulovska VIII network with its four satellites, the Liponus system with four planets, and the Titan Burkivos system with a single satellite. The first two systems are at war with the last, which serves as the refuge of Zorthos the Stranger, who wields a formidable weapon called the Dhèr.
Sector CC3-U10: Includes the Audroque base, the moon Reudil, and the moon Kanss. This sector remains neutral in the conflict within EB8-U24.
Players would take on the role of one of the few who know about the meteor threat looming over Cleia. They must travel across multiple locations, finding, buying, trading, and even stealing objects that may aid their quest. Time is critical – fragments of the meteor have already destroyed the bubble city of Gothal, emphasizing the urgency of the mission.
Unfortunately, apart from some very promising screenshots – nothing of the game was to surface on either the Amiga or ST. How far did the game get, and can anything of the title be saved?
With a huge thank you to Hoagie / Abandonware France for the submission and scans and ShinoSarna for flagging up about the acronym not matching.
