1988 Psion
Platform: Amstrad CPC
A sequel to the popular tennis game Match Point by Psion was apparently planned for the Amstrad CPC, following the success of the original 1985 release. But did it ever exist or was it merely vapourware?
Possible evidence of the sequel comes from a review of the first game in the French magazine Amstrad 100%, where it was noted that a follow up titled Match Ball II (Balle de Match II) was due for release towards the end of 1988. The review suggests it may surpass the original, which had already gained a strong reputation for its realistic gameplay.
However, despite this mention, very little else is known. There are no confirmed screenshots, previews or advertisements that have surfaced, and it is unclear if the game was ever completed or released. It is possible that it may have appeared under a different name, though no clear evidence of this has been found so far.
Perhaps the reviewer made it up? More research needed, and if you have any further information about this elusive sequel, please do get in touch.
With great thanks to George Bachaelor for the submission and Abandonware Magazines France for the scan.
