1986 Mastertronic
Platform: Commodore 16/Plus 4
Yet another lost Commodore 16/Plus 4 title from Mastertronic, and this time in the shape of Los Angeles S.W.A.T – which sort of splits opinion with the Commodore 64 edition that was released. Some like it, though others loave it – especially the music!

With the Commodore 16 edition, there wasn’t much evidence that a development existed until a review surfaced in the pages of Zzap Italia 10 in March 1987. However, it was likely just listing the platform – and it didn’t seem like they had seen anything of the conversion at all. Perhaps it was a mistake?
Well, in a recent Italian advert uncovered for Back To Reality for the Atari, tucked away was also Los Angeles S.W.A.T, but with C16 again listed as a platform. Oddly the Atari version is not listed though, but then other platforms are missing. Could it be another mistake? Well – two mentions of the platform with the game does give some hope that a conversion did exist, or was at least considered.
More investigation is required – though its unlikely that Sculptured Software would have been behind the conversion, and its likely a freelance developer would have been given the task of converting the game.
If you know anything about a conversion to the C16/Plus 4 – please do get in touch!
With thanks to Luca Carrafiello and Warren Pilkington for flagging up the conversion.

I’m sure I remember reading a review of the C16/Plus 4 version in Commodore User, unless my mind is playing tricks on me?!
Loved the C64 version back in the day.
It’s a very easy game though.
You can get on a pretty comfortable roll and I remember the level counter becoming just garbage after a certain number completed.
Great fun for the time :)
