Released on various platforms by Alternative Software in the late 1980s and early 1990s, The Munsters was a licence of the famous American TV show and was a typical 2D flick screen adventure affair which many of us kids back in the day may have brought with our pocket money.

Today we’re adding two prototype builds of the game which have quite a gap in the dates, with the earliest being from the 25th August 1989, and the next being the 5th October 1992. The earliest is quite glitchy, which we’re not sure if its an emulation configuration issue. The next build runs a lot smoother (and needs slowing down).
There are likely to be bugs and the odd difference here and there, but we couldn’t spot anything major. If you notice any major differences compared to the final game (especially rooms/characters), please get in touch via the comments.
Sadly, there was another prototype disk dated 22nd September 1989, but was found to be completely blank. We have included the raw Kryoflux files for reference if anyone would like to take a look.
With thanks to Darren Melbourne for allowing us to preserve and add to the site.
