Thunder Light [Preview]

Thunder Light is a Ghost n Goblins clone which was released in 1988 at a demo party in preview form, but seems to be quite complete overall. It isn’t sure if the game was intended for publication by anyone in particular.

I’m sure we’ve had this game in the GTW64 archives in the past, but it seems to have gone missing – perhaps not coming across as part of our import many years ago. The game was programmed by James A Hjelming, though there is also a credit to a Andreas H. on the title screen.  Graphics were by Robert Werner.

Thanks to Anonymous Contributor, a name search reveals that James A Hjelming’s full name is James Andreas Hjelming. This implies that “Andreas H” is the same person as James. James is a fairly rare name in Scandinavia, so it is likely that he is named Andreas, with James being his middle name, perhaps inherited from a male relative. In the international world of computer games, James would perhaps be seen as easier to remember for any foreign (i.e. UK and US) employers.

Both Andreas and Robert also previously worked on a game called Trap Mission – and we’re not sure if this was related at all. If you know anything more about this game, please do get in touch – but for now, check out the neat (but tough) preview.

    • Thanks Romero. Had a check – and they seem to be basically the same version, but different cracks. There’s an NTSC updated version by the looks of it, which seems to be from Xenon’s original crack too, but different credits.
