Warp One

American Action

Status: No Download, Findability: 2/5

A very short placeholder entry for yet another missing 1987 American Action title – Warp One. Mentioned in Svenska Hemdator Nytt No.4/1987, it is suggested that the game would be released soon by the company on the Commodore 64 and 16-bit platforms.

Was anything ever started – was it anything related to The Super Can or an enhanced version of that game, and can anything be found?

Thanks to Fabrizio Bartoloni, we learn via Wikipedia that Super Can had been changed and released again as Captured, with different characters and loading screen. There is a suggestion there may have been plans to release a new version of the engine again and different sprites/maps with the name of Warp One. So was this another game trying to exploit the same engine?

  1. Swedish Wikipedia entry for Greve Graphics (see https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greve_Graphics ) says:

    “Supercan (1986)

    That means: “Supercan (1986)

Together with Soldier One, the game Supercan was developed, a platform game in which you have to find your way out of a maze in the form of a dustbin. The game was later released by MAXX, but unusually,[28] it was given a new loading screen and new characters and launched under the name Captured.[8] There may have been plans to release a new version of the game later under the name Warp One.[29]”

The bottom note says “Warp One is presented in Datormagazin no. 4-5/1987 (p. 4) as Warp One/Supercan” https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greve_Graphics#cite_note-29
