Following on from the NES Pugsley’s Scavenger Hunt prototypes, we bring you two more this time for the Nintendo Gameboy. One is dated from the 22nd April 1993, though the other prototype is unknown – but we believe it is slightly earlier.
When comparing the April build, there doesn’t seem to be any noticeable differences compared to the final retail version apart from the header. We have very likely missed something, so if anyone spots anything different between the April edition and the final retail version, please let us know. There are noticeable differences in the code – but we’re not quite sure what they are without more in-depth digging.
Differences are a little easier to spot with the unknown build, but it is very minimal from what we can see from the surface. The main difference we have noticed is with the jump frame graphics for Pugsley, where in this unknown build – his back arches as he jumps and he has a bit of a dodgy look when he crouches.
There could well be other differences too – so again, please let us know if you spot anything. For now, we hope you enjoy this slightly different glimpse of the game.
With a huge thank you to Mark Greenshields for allowing these prototypes to be released.
