Ghouls ‘N’ Ghosts (Amiga/ST) early differences

Getting into a bit of a pattern at the moment of doing posts on differences between early previews and final releases of games on a Friday. I’ll see if I can keep it up! Today we take a look at a preview of Ghouls ‘N’ Ghosts that was previewed in French magazine TILT, showcasing screenshots of the Atari ST edition in particular.

The game itself looks mostly the same as the final release, apart from the tree backgrounds being missing from some of the scenes, and some of the grass assets not being tidily drawn into place at this stage.

However, the major difference is with the score panel – which is completely different and features a bone-based design, with a large skull in the muddle. The final design has a more solid marble effect overall. We wonder what other differences there may have been at some stage?

With thanks to AtariMania.com for the Atari ST screenshot, and Ross Sillifant for providing the TILT and C&VG scans and highlighting the differences.
