Aladdin (NTSC) NES prototype

We’re today adding a NES prototype of Disney’s Aladdin, which was released by Virgin Games in 1994, only in PAL regions. What makes this special is that this is a NTSC build recovered and dated 23-08-94 and seems to be very close to final (though there are a number of glitches present). Apocalypse 2

‘Apocalypse 2’ is a one/two player mixture of Gyruss and Asteroids, with a main ship that can rotate 360º after collecting the relevant power-up. You must destroy waves of planets that hurtle along and grow in size if you don’t shoot them early. Once planets are at full size, they take more shots to destroy and speed up the more they are shot. There have been many Army Men games over the years, though one we weren’t aware of until recently was a Game Boy Advance version of Army Men: Sarge’s Heroes, developed by DC Studios. This handheld version was intended as a conversion of the N64, PlayStation, Dreamcast, and PC title. Chicken Little

During the early 2000s, Argonaut Games were actively pitching a number of new projects to publishers, and one such title appears to have been based on Disney’s Chicken Little. Our latest post brings you previously unseen footage from what looks to be a pitch demo, suggesting that the studio had begun early development work on a potential adaptation of the film.

Very little is currently known about this particular version of Chicken Little, but the footage indicates that it had progressed beyond simple concept stages, with what appears to be early gameplay elements in place. As with many pitch demos of the time, it is likely that this was created to help secure a publishing deal, though it is unclear how far discussions progressed. Continue reading
